Title: Senior GIS Manager
Location: New Orleans, LA
The GIS Manager will be responsible for supervising Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support and professional staff, performing professional level activities including developing and maintaining spatial databases, GIS applications (apps) and research and analysis. Understands and interprets organizational geospatial needs, develops apps and mapping products that fulfill the unique needs for water, sewer, and storm water utilities.
The GIS manager interfaces with various internal divisions to ensure that the GIS program continuously delivers the information products that will be relied upon to meet their goals. The GIS Manager must maintain a strong working relationship with peers and divisional management to ensure cohesion with utility practices, standards and direction.
The GIS Manager leads, coordinates, and manages all aspects of GIS implementations; participates in the design of new GIS analysis methodologies, applications, and strategies; establishes and implements policies, procedures, and technologies, all while applying industry standard GIS practices. Interface with other departments or outside agencies regarding future GIS projects.
In this role, youll market and develop GIS services, manage projects, and mentor staff.
The GIS Manager will managed and build a team to perform the following duties:
Perform needs assessment for geospatial solutions; defines solutions based on COTS approach, develops related end-user training requirements
Perform the most complex GIS technical troubleshooting.
Communicating technical and GIS centric information to a non-technical audience
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems; performs data audits and quality control measures.
Develops and maintains GIS systems documentation.
Develops standards for GIS deployment and use within the City.
Coordinate, implement, and manage the organization's Intra/Internet-based strategies and initiatives for GIS applications.
Responsible for the overall integrity, accuracy, reliability and security of all enterprise level applications GIS systems.
Manage enterprise-level GIS software systems to support storage and delivery of geospatial data, oversight of design and maintenance of databases, including the development and compliance of accepted GIS operating standards.
Troubleshoots GIS related environments and applications as required.
Assess spatial needs of a City department and recommend solutions.
Handle server backup and recovery, including backup and recovery strategies, tools and techniques in coordination with the Information Technology Director.
Develops standards for the maintenance of new GIS data sets and applications to ensure integrity and compatibility with the enterprise GIS system
Establishes standards and procedures for the integration and extraction of data from the enterprise GIS system
Provides high level and detail training as required to utility stakeholders on the enterprise GIS system
Coordinates the efforts for resolving technical issues related to the enterprise GIS system
Provide project management support on GIS projects.
Ensure that GIS technology is used properly and efficiently and the quality of GIS services and products meet the needs of the organization.
Promote GIS capability within the organization and market it to specific clients by means of presentations, follow up meetings, and work proposals.
Oversee the development of internal GIS training programs.
Coordinate the design of enterprise GIS standards, policies and procedures that guide operations

Proficiency in managing and using ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Web App Builder & ArcGIS Desktop

Project Management experience
Experience with the ESRI suite of products such as ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Online
Excellent communication skills and creativity
A bachelors degree from an accredited college with major coursework in geography, information systems, computer science or a computer science related field.
5 years of progressively responsible experience implementing and integrating GIS applications including considerable progressively responsible GIS work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, certification and work experience.
Prior experience with water utility information systems is desirable.
Must have a high level of oral and written skills as well as strong interpersonal skills.
