Position Description:


The Sr. GIS Analyst will work within the Resource Planning Group which is responsible for maintaining forest information systems and data on all managed properties domestically and internationally. The Resource Planning Group is also responsible for property acquisition modeling and technology transfer to the Operations Group. As a part of the Resource Planning Group the Sr. GIS Analyst will be involved in support of all aspects of the team.

Responsibilities: The Sr. GIS Analyst is responsible for oversight of all corporate GIS data including maintaining data quality on data edited by both field operations foresters and Birmingham staff. The Sr. GIS Analyst will provide GIS and other data analytical support for a broad range of internal customers as well as providing support to enable others in the Resource Planning group to perform analysis themselves. The Sr. GIS Analyst will work closely with the GIS Manager and the System Manager to implement new GIS processes and systems throughout the organization.


Duties:

Specific duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Provide a wide variety of analytical support
• Support remote sensing projects such as Leaf Area Index projects and timber inventory enhancement
• Support large scale mapping projects
• Participate in GIS systems planning and development
• Develop ArcServer and ArcGIS online solutions for all aspects of the business
• Assist in user support of ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, and mobile GIS applications
• Assist in GIS migration projects and quality control related to property acquisition projects

Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies:
• Bachelor of Science in Forest Management, related Natural Resources program, or GIS (Master’s Degree preferred)
• Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in Forest Management and/or Natural Resources GIS work
• Demonstrated team player and leader
• Working knowledge of SQL Server
• Expert user of ArcGIS 10.X (ArcGIS pro a plus)
• Strong understanding of ArcServer implementation and work flows
• Understanding of Geoprocessing raster and vector data
• Proficient in geoprocessing methods and workflows including Model Builder and Python scripting (vb.Net programming a plus)
• Remote sensing knowledge using ArcMap (ERDAS Imagine or ENVI a plus)
• Exposure to SDE administration (MS SQL Server)
• Strong understanding of relational databases
• Experience managing and maintaining large GIS databases and data sets
• Ability to translate operational problems/needs into GIS workflows
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
