The role of the GIS Technician/Analyst includes assisting scientists, technologists, or related professionals in building, maintaining, modifying, or using geographic information systems (GIS) databases. GIS Technician/Analyst performs custom application development and provide user support to satisfy clients’ needs.

Work on ongoing environmental, transportation, urban planning, utility, and other technical projects
Have the opportunity to work in project planning and execution
Interact extensively with scientists, engineers, corporate and government clients and help develop standard deliverable formats for various contracts based on client and internal specifications and industry best practices

Essential Functions

Analyze Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analyses, using maps, graphs, or tabular data
Maintain or modify existing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases
Enter data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, scanning or automatic conversion to vectors, or conversion of other sources of digital data
Review existing or incoming data for accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation
Create maps and exhibits
Perform data collection in the field

Desired Qualifications

BA/BS in Geography, GIS, Geomatics or related field and 0-2 years of GIS experience preferred
Strong knowledge of infrastructure concepts and GIS is preferred
Advanced GIS software knowledge and experience including Esri GIS core products (e.g., ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, Spatial Analyst) Familiarity with ArcGIS-based modeling
Extensive experience using ArcGIS and Google Earth
Experience working in AutoCAD jointly with GIS products
LIDAR processing experience
Database management experience; Experience with Safe FME
Field experience required
Prior experience in QA/QC
Use excellent verbal and written communication skills to update team with progress reports and updates
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize tasks
Ability to work independently and as a team in a fast paced, challenging environment
