Title: GIS Technologist/Administrator

Theorem Geo Associates is a fast growing, multi-faceted consulting firm that provides data and geospatial analytic services as well as engineering and strategic consulting for the electric utility industry. Theorem Geo Associates is currently seeking a full time employee that will work directly with and be a mentor to our junior level GIS employees in our Charlotte, NC headquarters location.
This position is targeting an experienced GISP Administrator/Technologist. This key role will direct and participate in our long-term technology development and enhancement of GIS IT platforms. While acting as our GIS subject matter expert, this individual will be responsible for managing, administering, coordinating GIS related tasks, workflows, and processes as well as establishing company data policies and standards. This individual will remain available to employees working on internal and external projects as it pertains to: troubleshooting software issues, assisting in the creation of efficient workflows, and maintaining a working knowledge of the latest GIS trends, workflows, and software through research, further education, and conference attendance. Ideal candidate should be comfortable presenting knowledge based articles internally and externally as needed.
In this position, you will:
Monitor, optimize, and administer the Company’s GIS environment: work closely with end users to identify GIS requirements, address technical issues, optimize the GIS, and train users.
Recommend/apply GIS technology to enhance systems and apply efficiencies to existing workflows.
Incorporate maps, charts, data files, spreadsheet data, documentation and text into GIS. Report on data as needed.
Analyze and document user work processes and provide ideas for improving workflows.
Document systems and systems functionality requirements.
Design, develop, implement, and test configuration changes in packaged software such as ESRI, SQL, and potentially Smallworld to meet end user business requirements.
• Self-guided adventurous hard worker, unafraid of new challenges, capable of learning from past mistakes to avoid future pitfalls
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of GIS concepts and analytical techniques, including but not limited to:
o Computerized mapping and digital data conversion, manipulation and analysis
o GIS database administration and management principles, methods and techniques, including quality control methods and practices
o GIS software tools and applications including but not limited to ArcGIS, ArcSDE, Portal/ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server
o AutoCAD suite, and applications of MS Office Suite
o Advanced ArcGIS Desktop skills
o Principles and practices of GIS analysis and design
o Strong organizational, analysis and communications skills with the ability to effectively interface with both internal and external customers.
o Ability to train staff on the use of GIS technology
o Enterprise level database knowledge desired; such as ArcSDE or SQL database (Microsoft SQL Server is a plus)
• BS degree with a major in Geography, GIS or Computer Science with the following certifications: GISP: ESRI Desktop Associate.
Minimum of three years of progressively responsible experience in the design and development of GIS systems and applications.
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to work both efficiently independently and cooperatively in a team environment
• Valid state driver’s license in good standing
• Prior experience with some type of utility network, is preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance and quality assurance of a utility network in an enterprise GIS environment a strong plus
