Title: Geographic Information Systems Intern
Location: Bismarck, ND
Ducks Unlimited seeks a motivated candidate to provide GIS and mapping support for its conservation efforts in the Great Plains Region. This 1-year position will be stationed in the Great Plains Regional Office in Bismarck, North Dakota. The GIS Intern will provide support for a collaborative research project developing conservation assessments for a strategic implementation plan within the Prairie Pothole Region.
Duties for this position will focus on:
Manual classification of water in wetlands using aerial photography collected during spring and summer.
Manual classification of grassland parcels using aerial photography and legal descriptions.
Preparation of formal maps for presentations and display.
Development of summary statistics and analyses.
Applicant must be comfortable working alone within the ArcGIS environment and be capable of creating, maintaining, and editing shapefiles, features, and databases with minimal to no oversight.
B.S. degree in GIS or a related field
Proficiency with ArcMap and Spatial Analyst
Experience with heads-up digitizing and remote sensing
Experience with cartography
Salary for Ducks Unlimited interns is $1,950 per month. This position reports to the Manager of Conservation Planning, and is stationed in the Great Plains Regional Office in Bismarck, ND.
