Position Description:

Job Summary:

HALIS has a career opening for a Remote Sensing Technician position at our McDonough, GA office. HALIS is a leading full service geospatial firm specializing in Aerial Surveying, Remote Sensing, Mapping, and GIS. Under the supervision of the Production Manager, the remote sensing technician will be responsible for performing a wide range of geospatial tasks.


Duties and Responsibilities:

• LiDAR calibration/adjustments
• LiDAR point cloud classification/editing
• Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation and editing
• GIS feature extraction and attribution
• Orthoimagery production
• Heads-up digitizing planimetric features
• Data validation
• UAV data processing
• Follows quality control procedures
• Operating GNSS Base Stations
• Operating Weather Stations
• Troubleshoot hardware/software
• Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

• High School diploma
• 1-3 years of related experience
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Thrives well in fast-paced production environment
• Ability to multi-task
• Must be able to think spatially
• Must have high attention to detail
• Must be comfortable working with high performance computers and cutting edge technology
• Must be responsible
• Clean driving record and background
• Must live or be willing to relocate to a reasonable commuting distance to our main office in McDonough, GA


Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Computer Science or closely related field
• Experience in aerial LiDAR production
• Experience using the TerraSolid Suite
• Electric Utility experience
• Strong problem solving skills, out of the box thinker
• Experience using ESRI ArcGIS for Desktop, Global Mapper, ENVI, and/or other GIS and Remote Sensing software packages
• CAD experience (AutoCAD, MicroStation, PLS-CADD)
• Programming and scripting experience
• Understanding of aerial surveying principles (photogrammetry, GNSS/IMU, LiDAR)
• Land Survey background


Working conditions and Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit at a desk and operate a computer for long periods of time
• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to both outdoor and Indoor conditions
• Must be able to hear, see, and talk with or without reasonable accommodation


Starting Salary Range: DOQ
