Position Description:

Assist a DoD client with improving and maintaining GIS data for military installations. Provide specialized technical and analytical geospatial assistance that will support the development and maintenance of installation datasets. Support data collection, SDSFIE standards integration, and quality verification processes. Apply technical and programmatic knowledge of GIS. Execute the responsibilities of a GIS Analyst supporting regional installation management functions as a part of a DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) Program, which include:

• GIS technical proficiency and experience with Esri ArcGIS
• Experience in formal and informal GIS training
• Experience working in an enterprise Esri ArcGIS environment to include versioned editing.
• Data preparation, management, and maintenance
• Script writing for automation of routine GIS tasks and procedures
• Data Model support and compliance
• Communicate standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative and solve complex problems

Requirements and Experience:
The following are requirements of a potential candidate:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Survey, or IT related field
• 4+ years of experience in GIS with cartographic, analyst, editor, database or similar duties
• Experience with Esri software applications and spatial analysis including; network
analysis, spatial analysis, and 3D analysis
• Understanding and Knowledge in geography, scientific methods and GIS principles.
• Experienced and knowledge in the implementation of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
• Knowledge of DoD and Federal GIS Standards and Policy,
• Effective Communication both orally and in writing
• DoD Secret Clearance

The following are desired capabilities and experience of a successful candidate:
• Knowledge of unique challenges to GIS and GPS data collection
• Ability to interact with Management, Subject Matter Experts, Functional Data Leads, Engineers and Planners to understand requirements as they relate to GIS
• Experience with GIS data and CAD data integration
• Experience with image processing and raster analysis
• Experience in DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) or other DoD installation functional areas
• Able to develop maps for visualization and analysis
• Python script writing experience
• Data management experience
• Experience in formal and informal GIS training
• Ability to maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
