The GIS Specialist/Analyst Senior position is focused on providing geospatial data and data services for the Synthetic Environment Core (SE Core) Program. The Program enables an interoperable Synthetic Environment for simulation and training programs. The SE Core Terrain & Model Generation Services (TMGS) focuses on delivering software and limited hardware to enable a common correlated Synthetic Environment for Warfighters to train for full spectrum operations. SE Core is to facilitate a common representation of the complex and uncertain world for Integrated Training Environment exercises to support mission focused unit training that approximates the changing contemporary operational environment.
Pro-West & Associates is looking for a GIS Specialist/Analyst Senior who will serve as an integral member of the SE Core Program team providing entry level GIS geospatial data development and data services. The GIS Specialist/Analyst Senior position requires skills in the use of GIS software, ability to work within our fast-paced, technological environment with a diverse team, and enthusiasm for helping our clients make a difference in the area of GIS.
This is a full-time position, with vacation, personal days, holidays, IRA, health insurance and HSA benefits. The position is located in Orlando, FL.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Geography/GIS, Science, Engineering or related field.
•5 to 7 years experience in the GIS industry.
•Technical experience with basic geographic information systems (GIS) analyses on natural resource data.
•Basic knowledge of global positioning systems (GPS)
•Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
•Familiar with the principle, practices, and procedures used in GIS, software and systems development
•Experience with GIS development tools and programming languages
•US Citizenship is required as the applicant must be able to obtain a security clearance of an appropriate level following employment
•Technical work experience at SE Core Program preferred
•Plan, design, develop, document, and analyze basic spatial and relational databases
•Apply basic GIS and other software to manage spatial and related tabular data
•Build databases by digitizing map information
•Produce map products depicting spatial data (digital maps or map services)
•Assist in analyzing image data with image processing software
•Write software routines to facilitate analysis
•Research and acquire sources of GIS data from federal, state, local government and private business
•Operate a computer workstation, digitizer, printers and plotters
•Create user applications and interfaces using various programming languages
•Prepares and presents technical research
•Follow project standards to accurately develop and attribute geospatial data
•Communicate possible project efficiency improvements to senior technician/manager
•Attend in house project meetings, specific to assigned development project
•Maintain and develop technical skills through relevant and approved trainings
