Clark County GIS in Winchester, Kentucky seeks a Full-Time GIS Technician for assistance with GIS office operations. Qualified candidates must hold a GIS Certificate or Bachelor's Degree, related to Geosciences, from an accredited institution of higher learning. One year’s work experience is preferred. Work experience may include internships, part-time work, or full-time employment in the GIS field.
Good public relations, note taking, and communication skills are essential. Critical thinking skills and self-motivation are also required. Experience using ESRI software is required. Understanding of GPS and experience with Trimble GPS equipment is preferred. Experience with MS Word and MS Excel is also preferred. Candidates must display an interest in obtaining Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) Certification.
This position will support the GIS Coordinator in routine GIS operations. Tasks will include answering phone calls, routing questions and requests, basic data entry, and production of paper and digital map products. Some field work will be required. Additional tasks will be assigned, as needed and directed, by the GIS Coordinator.
Candidate must maintain a valid Kentucky Vehicle Operator's License. This position requires a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
