Highly responsible, professional, technical work for the preparation, maintenance and development of Geographic Information System (GIS) projects and special projects. Performs all duties in creating and maintaining GIS Information System spatial data; and creation of new map applications. The incumbent shall work with GIS software and other computerized applications to analyze data, maintain databases, create reports, provide maps, and provide support for users of the Geographic Information System.

•Plans, organizes, and coordinates the operations of the City’s GIS Division; performs system analysis functions to determine hardware and software requirements for Planning & Engineering Department and makes recommendations for other City Departments regarding GIS; designs and/or recommends GIS systems, implements system upgrades, and supports all users in coordination with the City’s Information Technology Division.
•Manages data collection efforts and database updating processes.
•Prepares specialized GIS analysis and mapping products to meet current needs within the City and for special projects.
•Technical responsibility and management of all geospatial information.
•Monitors and plans future GIS needs and development of future GIS related products citywide.
•Develop and implement project plans and work assignments, ensure quality, on schedule and within budget.
•Responsible for the acquisition and maintenance of GIS hardware and software.
•Responsible for assigning individual data attributes to the appropriate location on the GIS map layer, converts various map and data types to hardware environment for inclusion into GIS.
•Manages GIS coordination with City departments in development of standardized procedures and advises Information Technology Manager on system activities.
•Plans and manages spatial data utilizing GIS tools, conducts quality checks utilizing map aerial photographs and other related materials.
•Cultivates and maintains a thorough understanding of the GIS technical processes through training and research for GIS software application.
•Monitors the preparation of graphic and illustrative materials and other relevant information for reports and publications.
•Manages the implementation of GIS projects, analysis, system design, database design and development of GIS application as necessary and prioritization of projects. ·
•Monitors GIS hardware, output devices to ensure proper functions.
•Manages the City-wide Online Mapping Applications such as all maps with the City's Comprehensive Plan and the City's Official Zoning Map.
•Verification of zoning and land use data for Planning Projects and Zoning Confirmation letters.
•Advises City Departments on GIS access and training; assisting Departments with Technical and Geographical issues related to databases, maps and data requests.
•Coordinates with outside GIS agencies to provide inter-local agreements and seamless sharing of GIS data (Census, FPL, PBC Property Appraiser’s Office, etc.).
•Manages the Global Positioning Systems (GPS) data inventory and asset inventory for the City.
•Makes site visits to various City locations, as needed.
•Performs duties as assigned during emergency response conditions.
•Participates as member of County-wide GIS forum, URISA, and FLURISA
•Performs any other related duties as assigned.
