Title: Field Survey Technician
Location: Fort Drum, NY USA
KFS is looking for Field Survey Technicians available for assignments on Fort Drum, NY. The Field Survey Technician utilizes GPS and utility locating equipment, such as Ground Penetrating RADAR (GPR), to find and map utility infrastructure on the installation. Simultaneously, the Field Survey Technician records detailed information about the assigned utility, such as type, size, and identifying markings. The Survey Technician will also document the feature with photographs. Once the field data has been collected, the Survey Technician will be responsible for processing and organizing the data in a manner that prevents the data from being lost or from having to be recollected. The role entails extensive interaction with military and civilian personnel in a military setting.
Use GIS / GPR / GPS to locate and document the locations of buried utilities
Accurately document utility locations and merge them into coherent datasets using a standardized criteria and attributes
Maintain a high level of productivity in assigned survey areas
Ensure detailed data quality standards are consistently maintained
Interact in a professional manner with military and civilian personnel on Fort Drum
Able to quickly learn and adapt to new circumstances
Tech savvy individual that enjoys using cutting-edge tools
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
Excellent Can-Do attitude
Mature and reliable work ethic
Physically able to walk or stand for more than 6 hours per day
Physically able to lift maintenance hole covers for utility investigation
Willingness to work outdoors during all types of weather
Prior CAD experience not required, but desirable
Prior GIS / GPS experience is desirable
Utility Infrastructure locating experience is desirable
Due to federal contract requirements, candidate must be U.S. Citizen
Eligible for Secret security clearance
Job Profile: Field Survey Technician is an entry-level full time position with career progression opportunities. The role is assigned to survey projects on Fort Drum and could lead to assignments in other locations. Assignments range from several days to several months depending on size of project. 100% travel is possible.
