Title: GIS Specialist I (Entry-Level)
Location: Plymouth, MI
The GIS Specialist I is responsible for using GIS analysis and mapping to support a team of technical professionals providing surveying, engineering, land planning and ecological services to clients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Compile, manipulate, refine, and distribute geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain data warehouses, field observations, remote sensing and existing geographical data.
Produce detailed, high quality cartographic map products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports in accordance with company standards and methodologies, technical guidelines, and client needs.
Perform regular quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components
Communicate efficiently with project team members to meet multi-user goals
Perform well independently and with others in order to understand and generate special purpose maps while maintaining and updating geospatial data
Maintain exceptional internal and external client relations
Achieve performance objectives and financial metrics (see Key Performance Indicator document)
All other duties as assigned
Bachelors degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education & experience
Minimum six (6) months applicable experience
Proficient in ESRI ArcGIS software, ESRI server and web based technologies
Strong understanding of how to extract data out of multiple formats for merging into GIS databases, such as Pipelogix, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, BS&A, and AutoCAD.
Must possess a valid drivers license and be able to travel to the corporate office as well as local clients and project sites
Excellent concentration and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in diverse teams including technical and non-technical personnel

Ability to work efficiently and effectively under tight deadlines as well as balance multiple projects by prioritizing effectively
