Position Description:

International Archaeology, LLC (IA), an equal opportunity employer, seeks a full-time Archaeology Project Director / GIS Specialist for its Honolulu office. This position involves directing projects in the field and office, writing reports, and assisting with project staffing needs. Fieldwork will be required at times, and might involve hiking in heavy vegetation or over rough terrain carrying GIS equipment. The position involves regularly producing maps for technical reports on short notice; compliance with federal, state, and local geodatabase standards; developing geodatabase structures; and processing and quality control on field-collected GPS data.

Experience leading or directing archaeological fieldwork in CRM is necessary. Experience developing geodatabases, working on larger GIS projects as part of a team, and preparation of electronic GIS deliverables are required. Experience with recent versions of ArcGIS Desktop, ArcToolbox and ArcCatalog are also required. Preferred skills include experience with Trimble GPS units and software; other beneficial skills include experience with Python, dealing with archaeological/GIS legacy data, and Microsoft Access. The candidate must have:

1) Graduate degree in anthropology or related field
2) Writing, research, fieldwork, and computer skills including extensive experience with GIS software
3) Experience as an archaeological Project Director or Field Supervisor; good organizational skills including the ability to maintain project schedules
4) Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Occasional travel to neighbor islands required. Position available immediately. Salary and benefits are commensurate with the position, experience of the applicant, and industry standards.
