BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: Successful candidate will perform Geographic Information Systems (GIS) support for the Unified Government GeoSpatial Services division. Primary area of support will be for the real estate parcel mapping. Maintain real estate records including researching and entering transfers, division and combinations utilizing databases and GIS tools. Write and track correspondence regarding land records research and inquiries. Provide guidance to internal and external staff regarding land records. Assist in maintaining the real estate records including parcels, lots, subdivisions, tax units, situs addresses, administrative boundaries and related features using ESRI GIS software. Fulfill map and GIS data requests from internal and external customers. Create, update, maintain and analyze county GIS data. Manages custom mapping projects, which include assessing user needs, map planning, design, creation, and production. Researches and resolves moderately complex GIS related problems and areas of concern associated with digital mapping and database files, utilizing aerial photo interpretation, cadastral and street map analysis, and field research among other techniques. Reviews and interprets routine and moderately complex construction plans, final plats, legal descriptions, surveys and field-collected data used in the digital data creation process.
Bachelor’s Degree in Cartography, GIS, Computer Science, Information Systems, Planning, Surveying, Engineering or related field and three years of progressive, responsible experience developing GIS data and working with GIS, preferably in local government GIS setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Knowledge of the ESRI ArcGIS Desktop and its application to parcel mapping. In particular an understanding of COGO, Parcel Editor and Parcel Fabric; experience with Sidwell Parcel Builder a plus. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License. Must be a resident of Wyandotte County or willing to relocate within 12 months from date of hire. Must be able to pass criminal background check.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The Unified Government offers a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary Range $4,000.53 to $5,246.80/mo. Depending upon qualifications.

Residency: All UG employees must reside within Wyandotte County within one-year of starting a position. The residency requirement is non-negotiable.
Classification Title: We call this job a GIS Analyst. The official job classification title is Information Systems Analyst.
Assessments/Testing: This position does not require testing.
