Role: Geospatial Analyst
Role Summary: Responsible for developing new hydrography delineations using lidar-derived Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), imagery, and field collected data, which will be incorporated into the high-resolution National Hydrography Dataset (NHD).
Candidates must be eligible for federal security clearance (DOI) and proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
Prepare lidar-derived DEMs (e.g., mosaicking, resampling, etc.) at the watershed or subwatershed scale for hydrography modeling.
Hydro-flatten DEMs to adjust elevations where hydrographic waterbodies, areas, and double-line streams occur.
Hydro-enforce DEMs where hydrography intersects roads, canals, and other anthropogenic features to ensure accurate hydrologic surface flow.
Develop and execute Python scripts to model hydrography from prepared lidar-derived DEMs.
Facilitate quality control/assessment reviews of initial delineations by hydrologists using web-based GIS applications.
Adjust initial delineations and hydro-enforcements based on feedback from hydrologists.
Manage data associated with hydrographic modeling. Data includes interim raster products, final hydro-flattened/enforced DEMs, breaklines, channel initiation points, etc.
Bachelors degree or higher in the biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
Proficiency with the ESRI ArcGIS version 10.x software suite, including the spatial analyst extension.
Demonstrated programming experience with Python.
Demonstrated experience managing, processing, and analyzing raster datasets to model hydrography.
Familiarity with the high-resolution National Hydrographic Dataset (NHD) requirements and data standards.
Understanding of basic hydrologic science principles.
Experience with performing geospatial statistical analysis
Experience designing and editing geodatabases with related tables to a state or national standard.
Experience producing and/or maintaining editable feature services in ArcGIS web applications.
Experience developing and maintaining web-based GIS applications.
Familiarity with the physical geography of Oregon and Washington.
