Our Client is a leading utility construction firm providing critical infrastructure for the Power, Communications, Oil & Gas Pipeline, and Gas Distribution markets throughout North America. They are looking for a GIS Engineer with 3+ years of experience for their Portland, OR office.

The GIS Engineer is responsible for the oversight, administration, maintenance, applications, as-build designs, and archiving of the OSP design work performed in the ArcGIS/ESRI Group platform. Duties may include, but are not limited to, assist in the design of outside plant infrastructure, field audits, records verification, detail design and documents preparation, data entry, creating work order construction prints, records posting, cable count re-arrangements, as-build completion and submission, and routine work order functions. This position reports to the GIS Manager.

Primary liaison of communication between 3GIS/vendors and the GIS team
Responsible for troubleshooting technical issues and providing 3GIS IT support
Responsible for developing solutions and processes within the GIS database to help solve problems and inefficiencies affecting different aspects of the project
Work closely with the Design Engineer to develop process flows and train GIS Technicians
Ensure engineering/design activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall schedule.
Assist in the development and implementation of field computer applications to facilitate the control and collection of data for mapping (gps)(gis)(kmz), inspection, quantity performance, schedule performance, as-build documentation, and subcontract administration.
Trouble shoot ESRI platform and third party designers for any anomalies in the system or processes.
Oversee final as-build design and documentation.

Minimum B.A. degree in Engineering or Certification in GIS. Relevant project experience may be substituted for education/certificate
3+ years of GIS Engineering experience
ESRI Experience Required
ESRI?ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online
Familiar or experienced with 3GIS platform is preferred
High proficiency with Microsoft Excel/ Office
Autodesk experience preferred
Python and SQL experience preferred but not required
Google Earth experience preferred
Primary liaison for communication with 3GIS
Analytical and detail oriented
Proactive personality and strong written and oral communication skills
Proficient in physical map making/Cartography skills
Proficiency in projection and coordinate systems.
Ability to transform Project Needs into technical 3GIS solutions
Ability troubleshoot and provide IT support within 3GIS database
Ability to bring new and efficient ideas to the table and problem solve
Must have computer skills in CAD, Microsoft Office programs
Telecom experience is preferred
Familiar with surveying applications and data management a plus
