Title: GIS Solution Architect

Hancock Natural Resource Group (HNRG) was founded in 1985 and is based in Boston, Massachusetts. HNRG develops and manages diversified timberland and agriculture portfolios for a global client base, and is the world’s largest timberland investment management organization. HNRG is a registered investment adviser and wholly owned subsidiary of Manulife Financial Corporation.
Work on a team of Solution Architects, Application Developers and Project Managers to support and develop Esri Enterprise GIS systems and infrastructure throughout all Hancock Natural Resource Group (HNRG) businesses including Hancock Forest Management (HFM), Hancock Agriculture Investment Group (HAIG), and Hancock Timber Investment Group (HTRG). Provide development and support for Resource Information Systems, GIS and related systems. Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of Esri Enterprise applications and HNRG systems. Partner with HNRG’s Infrastructure team to assure GIS services are available, optimized, and serving the needs of the business.
Provide third level GIS support to the GIS / Application Support Team.
Provide third level support for resource information systems
Assist in the improvement of business procedures.
Provide training to other GIS team members in a ‘train the trainer’ program.
Provide support to peers to ensure effective deployment of Esri platform and continuous improvement.
Ensure Esri platform is optimized and up to date with latest versions as appropriate.
Provide expert advice on best use of Esri products and their implementation.
Support all customizations, configuration, and associated systems and processes.
Implement measures to optimize system performance and apply best practice.
Plan for future expansion and develop strategies to accommodate application development needs.
Monitor and control system user access, and security.
Assist in business analysis efforts between IT and business groups.
Develop an understanding of the HFM and HAIG businesses and their resource information requirements.
Design and develop conceptual and functional specifications to facilitate development of resource information systems and maximize value from the Esri platform.
Establish a development strategy and road map for ESRI based applications and continuously maintain documentation to stay up to date with changes.
Advise on the design, implementation, and enhancement of spatial and non-spatial information management workflows.
Provide support and leadership in special projects as required.
Stay up to date with latest technologies and best practice.
Attend training as required to upskill and maintain currency of expertise.

Tertiary qualifications in IT, GIS, or related discipline.
Five years' experience administrating, designing and implementing IT/GIS solutions and systems in the Esri Enterprise platform.
Extensive experience working with an IT infrastructure team that supports the underlying network, infrastructure and Enterprise platform.
Experience working with database administrators to support and develop Esri / GIS solutions.
Must have proven skills supporting the latest version of the ESRI suite including all Enterprise components, Portal, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, Webapp builder, SDE, ArcGIS Desktop and mobile products.
Clear understanding of IT infrastructure that supports the Esri platform in a cloud-based deployment, preferably Azure.
Working knowledge of hosted deployments of desktop, preferably within an Azure and Citrix environments.
Reasonable understanding of the use of ArcGIS desktop, web and mobile from an end user perspective, and geospatial concepts and analysis.
A high-level understanding in RDBMS especially SQL Server.
Desirable but not mandatory is an understanding of forest management practices, mapping and information needs of forest managers.
Skills in developing and delivering GIS and other systems training as required and provide support for HFM Systems.
Competent Solution Architect; developing systems and tools in the latest Esri Enterprise suite to provide business efficiencies.
Experience with integrating Esri solutions with other business systems
Some experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
