Job Title: GIS Analyst
Position Summary:
A geographic information system (GIS) integrates hardware, software, and data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. GIS staff visualize, analyze, and model the world to help organizations make informed decisions. GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in
the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.

GIS staff perform a variety of technical and general assignments, including creating, developing and maintaining various GIS maps, layers and other geographic data by manual and automated means; creating and maintaining assigned aspects of the Geographic Information System (GIS) database; generating maps and reports as required; performing other tasks and duties as required.

GIS Database Analyst would report to the IT Manager.


Job Description:
• Considerable experience with the acquisition, analysis and maintenance of digital geographic data using ESRI suite of software
• Design, install, and configure a geodatabase in SQL Server, Oracle and File Geodatabases
• Manage data (spatial and tabular) within geodatabases
• ArcGIS Tools used for editing, digitizing, and validating geodatabases
• Understanding and management of Geodatabases in SQL Server, Oracle and File Geodatabases
• SQL skills
• Perform geodatabase maintenance and troubleshooting
• Quorum Business Solutions (QLS/QGIS Experience a plus)
• Develop user applications with Model Builder, FME and/or Python
• Automate redundant tasks using Python, SQL and Model Builder
• Assist in the development and coordination of department-use of the company’s enterprise GIS databases
• Work with others to re-engineer process to leverage GIS technology;
• Use organizational, project management and problem solving skills;
• Use analytical thought processing and sound research methods and techniques;
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers;
• Maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations;
• Understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions;
• Perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
• Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
• Ability to convey technical material to audiences with a varying familiarity with the subject matter, individually and in groups
• Maintain knowledge of changes in technical direction and industry trends by keeping active in user groups, and by reviewing vendor and professional web sites

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of the GIS Technician and GIS Analyst positions
• Oil & gas operations
• Geographic information systems (GIS) including hardware, software (e.g., ESRI Suite of Products including ArcMap, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro, Portal for ArcGIS), and communication technologies
• In depth understanding of ArcGIS concepts, terminology and requirements
• Cartography and related concepts, map projections and coordinate systems
• Methods and techniques of database analysis and design (e.g., geographic data processing and cartographic principles and procedures)
• GIS workflows and their impact on the geodatabase
• Software applications relating to spatial data, indexing concepts and related functionality;
• System requirements for Relational Database Management System (RDBMS)
• Programming logic and writing code
• WebGIS deployment

Minimum Education: Bachelors or Masters in GIS Technology, Computer Science, or related field

Minimum Experience: 5+ years of general GIS experience with applicable bachelors and 1 year experience in administration, maintenance and implementation of applications, GIS analysis, GIS databases, and application designs; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
