General Job Description
Responsible for the county-wide GIS database system administration and GIS data administration in regards to planning, creation, maintenance and management. Provide software environment administration and establishes and maintains standards. Establishes, documents and modifies processes. Directs and monitors all data maintenance for the GIS division to the GIS users, as well as performing backup services for other GIS users. Responsible for multi-agency, multi-department Cityworks deployment. Responsible for ArcGIS Server management, ArcGISOnline management and deployment.
Duties for this Position
• Establish, document and modify spatial database process; Analyze and evaluate technology, resources and standards to achieve best process; Consult with users on integrating external data for compatibility; document process for consistency and stability. Create and maintain metadata according to established standards; utilize programming tools to automate process. Direct and monitor the spatial processes for creation and routine maintenance. Monitor processes to ensure data integrity and compatibility; ensure integration of existing and new dataset with all geographic based data. Conducts tests to determine integrity of databases. Monitors and measures performance of databases and reports problems to the appropriate individual. Establish and maintain spatial database standards; evaluate end user application needs, communicate with end users to determine their needs and expectations; implement Federal Metadata Standards as appropriate. Design spatial databases according to established standards. Help to ensure maximum on-line availability of databases. All Cityworks administration, creation of workflows, reports and templates. Trains end users, and responsible for the database maintenance and update and upgrading of systems.
Position Minimum Requirements
• A Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, geography or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, plus two years of experience in a Microsoft SQL/GIS software environment or four years progressively increasing role using SQL Server 2008 (or greater)/ArcServer 10.x (or greater) and ESRI software in a local government environment. A working knowledge of the ESRI suite of software programs including ArcInfo, ArcView GIS 10.x, ArcGIS Online and ARCServer (Visual Basic, HTML or JAVA programming experience desired but not required). Cityworks Administration and training not required but beneficial.
