GIS and Data management duties, including but not limited to:
Use various software to develop, populate and maintain large datasets.
Assist in importation and maintenance of data into OSBS online data module/cloud, ensuring QA/QC, compliance with metadata standards, as well as archive and preserve integrity of incoming data.
Provides GIS and technical support to stations staff and users.
Compares legal survey documents with current GIS information.
Preparation of formal maps for presentations, displays, staff and user needs.
Development and presentation of summary statistics and analysis to support researcher and staff needs.
Assist with establishment and implementation of metadata standards
Assist with conversion of OSBS legacy data into data module/cloud format.
Support and Maintenance of OSBS technical Infrastructure.
Including but not limited to:
Maintain (service, program, upgrade and troubleshoot) OSBS technical infrastructure (Including but not limited to: weather stations, cameras, remote sensing equipment, cellular and radio repeaters, GPS units).
Maintenance of grounds near technical infrastructure and equipment
Assist with data acquisition and integration from scientific instrumentation (remote access weather stations, cameras, monitoring wells etc.)
Assist with data collection and provide input on technological improvements for current and future monitoring and research projects.
Assist with the development and implementation of UAV based monitoring protocols.
Document changes and events pertaining to technical infrastructure and equipment
IT Support of OSBS:
Serve as on-site liaison between OSBS and UF campus IT (including but not limited to troubleshooting server, printers, scanner, copiers, wireless and internet, provide software updates and licensing support for station computers and devices)
Provide IT support to course & meetings held at OSBS
Provide Local IT support to Station Staff and Users (Wifi network, servers, printers, software etc.)
Other duties as determined by supervisor, Assistant Director
Including but not limited to:
Assist investigators with technology design and troubleshooting (ex: ionospheric sounder project, JEA ground water monitoring wells, NEON technical infrastructure)
Assist supervisor with recruitment of interns to meet identified volunteer position needs for OSBS.
Participates in stationís wildland fire program: infrequently serve as a crew member on controlled burns and wildfires.
$40,000-$45,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
A bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or an equivalent combination of education and experience. GIS or AutoCAD proficiency required, per the unit's needs.
Valid Florida driverís license and safe driving record.
Bachelorís Degree in GIS, Geomatics, Geography, Computer Science, or a closely related field and two years of relevant work experience
Bachelorís degree in a non-related field and four years of relevant work experience.
S-130/190 Basic Wildland firefighter certification or willingness to take training within one year of hire.
Academic background in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Sciences and/or related field.
Proficient with current versions of ArcGIS and X tools
Experience supervising volunteers and interns preferred
Experience collecting GPS data
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and Microsoft Outlook
