One Call Concepts Locating Services (OCCLS) is a utility locating company that contracts with facility owners to mark their underground assets as required by 811 Damage Prevention laws. OCCLS’s business operations span six U.S. states. In addition to field locating, OCCLS provides custom mapping services working closely with facility owners to identify and map underground lines. The backbone of OCCLS’s mapping solution is a proprietary application developed and maintained by their in-house GIS team of developers and technicians. OCCLS works closely with One Call Concepts, Inc. (OCC), the leading underground damage prevention call center provider, to further the development of mapping technologies while leveraging best practices for asset identification and protection.
The GIS Developer position is integral to the advancement of business initiatives and touches every piece of the customer relationship. This role is critical to day to day operations, beginning with startup contracts and following through with ongoing map updates. This position plays a key role in the advancement of GIS technologies as they relate to the underground damage prevention industry. This person will work independently reporting directly to the senior GIS mapping director and interface daily with company executives, field personnel and external customers. This is a full-time salaried position located in Hanover, Maryland.

Salary: Compensation will vary by experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Geographic Information Systems, Cartography, Geography, Computer Science, or related field.
-2 or more years performing GIS related tasks on a daily basis
-In depth experience with ESRI's suite of GIS software, as well as open source applications such as QGIS
-Possess an in-depth knowledge of current GIS analysis practices and techniques, including data input, joining and relating datasets, feature editing techniques, map production, and attribute data entry
-Ability to comprehend and write python scripts for GIS analysis and automation
-Experience using Microsoft Excel to view, edit, and analyze large datasets
-SQL Server, Visual Studio, FME
-Must have been exposed to, and ideally have experience with relational databases
-Should be familiar with and have some experience programming using .NET
-Must have experience with data management. OCCLS manages many millions of rows of data from many different sources. Data normalization and standardization is an essential skill.
-Must be able to work independently with limited guidance. This means that given a desired goal, the candidate must be able to create a plan of action and execute it with very little additional instruction.
-Ability to incorporate and migrate legacy datasets is required.
-Must have a proactive approach to independent research challenges and requests, and possess the desire to develop innovative and creative solutions using collaborative problem-solving techniques.
