Position Description:

The City-County Planning Commission of Warren County, located in Bowling Green Kentucky, is now accepting resumes for the position of GIS Technician.

Purpose of Position: This position will support the ongoing creation, maintenance and dissemination of data and applications in the GIS environment. The GIS Technician will interact with various team members and sister agency staff to ensure that their needs for GIS information are met on a day to day basis and will be primarily responsible for production level GIS functions including data compilation and maintenance, map production, and filling GIS requests related to mapping, data exchange, asset management and technical support. The GIS Technician is expected to exercise considerable initiative to work independently in the office, along with some field work, and is responsible for decisions requiring discretion, judgement, and familiarity with a variety of work flows. The GIS Technician is expected to work well with colleagues in a team environment.

Minimum Training and Experience: This position requires a good working knowledge of GIS data types and ESRI software with the ability to easily perform spatial data analysis and collection of data with GPS and mobile GIS data collection applications. A Bachelorís degree in GIS, Geography or related field, with at least two years of experience in GIS; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is required. Knowledge of AutoCAD, SQL databases and ArcGIS Enterprise (ArcGIS Server) is desired. A valid driverís license is required.

Starting Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000 annually DOQ, based on a typical 37.5 hour work week.
