Title: GIS Technician
Advanced Agrilytics is an agronomic services company enabled by best in class digital capabilities providing growers independent, sophisticated and robust input prescriptions and operational advice. We are seeking a GIS Technician to provide data support and geographic information systems (GIS) expertise for our field agronomists. The successful candidate will also support ongoing data ingestion efforts, perform ad hoc data translation/operations and participate in software testing activities. Below is a brief description of the role and competencies required.
Work closely with agronomists to ensure all necessary digital ag data is obtained from grower clients.
Ensure data is in the proper format for ingestion into the database and track data status through the processing chain.
Utilize third-party software and in-house tools for any necessary data conversion and processing.
Create and maintain employee/grower accounts on AAs proprietary data platform and in other GIS-based tools utilized by the company.
Collaborate with software developers/architects to conduct pilot testing of upgrades and new product rollouts and provide feedback for optimizing implementation efficiency.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Associates degree in an agricultural-related field (i.e., agronomy, soils, precision ag), geographic information systems (GIS), computer science or related field.
Experience with major digital ag platforms and their associated data (Precision Planting, John Deere, Case IH, Ag Leader).
Utilization of Ag Leaders SMS software for data conversion and general processing.
Knowledge of GIS software; including ESRIs ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of GIS software, geocoding techniques, data model formats and data conversion practices utilizing off-the-shelf and in-house software tools.
Working knowledge of global positioning systems (GPS), desktop mapping, web and database applications.
Working knowledge of different data types; including traditional and spatial formats as well as data that are collected/output from digital ag equipment manufacturers and their cloud-based data warehouses.
Ability to handle multiple projects and associated deadlines.
Good communication skills.
Work quickly and accurately under time pressure.
