geocgi is looking for a Jr. GIS Analyst to assist a DoD client with improving and maintaining GIS data for military installations as part of the PMO Dispatch team in Okinawa, Japan. Provide specialized technical and analytical geospatial assistance that will support the development and maintenance of installation datasets. Support data collection through fieldwork with GPS equipment, SDSFIE standards compliance, and quality verification processes. Maintain geospatial data in an enterprise GIS implementation. Execute the responsibilities of a GIS Junior Analyst supporting Installation Management functions as a part of a DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) Program, which include:

• GIS technical experience with Esri ArcGIS
• Fieldwork and GPS data collection
• Understanding of data management principles in an enterprise Esri ArcGIS environment including versioned editing
• Data preparation, management, and maintenance
• Cartography
• Data Model support and compliance
• Communicate standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics

The following are requirements of a potential candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, or IT related field
• 2-3 years of experience in GIS with ESRI’s ArcGIS software suite
• Experience with Esri software applications and spatial analysis including; network
analysis, spatial analysis, and 3D analysis
• Understanding and Knowledge in Geography, scientific methods, and GIS principles
• Able to develop maps for visualization and analysis
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• United States citizen and have U. S. driver’s license
• Effective Communication both orally and in writing
• Able and willing to perform fieldwork and travel via military transportation

The following are desired capabilities and experience of a successful candidate:

• Dispatch, Crime Analysis, Geocoding experience
• Understanding of geodatabase principles
• Cartography experience
• Familiarity with GPS data collection
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative and solve complex problems
• Preferred candidate will have current DoD Secret Clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
