The Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) is accepting resumes and applications for the position of GIS Coordinator (Environmental Analyst III). The GIS Coordinator to support the Department's spatial and geographical data needs including the Department's land use and funding programs. The areas of focus include the Agricultural Preservation Restriction (APR) Program, multiple grant and funding initiatives and state agriculturally related emergency response efforts such as support for responses to disease outbreaks from EEE or Avian Influenza. This position is based in the Department's Boston Office location.
The GIS Coordinator is responsible for performing the following functions and activities:
Developing, managing, and maintaining geographic data, maps, and geospatial applications, that will enable managers and decision makers to make better informed decisions.
Intra-department GIS strategic planning, administration and user support.
Technical expertise and direction to all activities within MDAR that may benefit from geospatial technologies.
Participation in inter-department GIS-related efforts as directed by the EEA CIO and/or their designees.
Digital support for certain agricultural department related emergency response efforts, for example due to potential vector borne impacts on human and animal health.
