Role: Geospatial Data Management Specialist – Denver, CO

Role Summary:
This role will provide geospatial data management support to the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Rapid Ecoregional Assessment (REA), Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring (AIM), Sage Grouse Initiative, Geospatial Modernization, and other Landscape and National EGIS program activities. Emphasis for this position is on metadata handling and validation and ensuring that metadata flows from BLM publication nodes to data.doi.gov or other partner catalogs. The candidate shall provide assistance to BLM technical experts in supporting the full range of data management associated with the national and regional scale efforts.

Candidates must be eligible for federal security clearance and proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Essential Functions:

-Review, create, and maintain metadata to agency specifications
-Provide support to ensure metadata is registered in doi.data.gov and other data catalogs
-Support national metadata validation related activities in formats primarily including FGDC, Dublin Core, ISO, and ArcGIS
-Coordinate and conduct the review of geospatial data and metadata products
-Assist with the management of geodatabases in an enterprise environment
-Assist with the maintenance of the agencies data portal, ArcGIS Online, and the publication of web maps and applications from these environments
-Assist with the management of records stored within Geoportal Server
-Document the integrity and quality of REA, Sage grouse, AIM, other landscape initiative data, and standard national datasets
-Assist with the implementation/development of quality assurance and quality control requirements
-Work with data stewards and data administrator to interpret business needs into applications and derive data requirements
-Develop spatial models and document existing models
-Generate digital map products using current versions of ArcGIS Desktop and ArcPro

Experience Required:
-4 years’ experience with of ESRI’s ArcGIS Desktop software, including extensions and add-ins such as the FGDC metadata editor add-in or Spatial Analyst
-3+ years’ experience publishing geospatial data and metadata for use on desktop and/or the web
-3+ years’ experience working in a multi-user, enterprise Geodatabase environment using ESRI’s ArcSDE software
-2+ years’ experience managing data in ESRI Portal for ArcGIS and/or ArcGIS Online for Organizations
-2+ years’ experience developing, maintaining, and customizing a SharePoint site
-2+ years’ experience creating and validating metadata to meet specified standards
-Professional knowledge in applying geospatial technologies to address natural resource and/or land management business requirements
-Knowledge working with variety of geospatial datasets from sources within and external to the federal government
-The ability to maintain a data catalog, or curate and facilitate discovery of project related data

Ideal (in addition to required experience):
-Experience in SharePoint Online
-Working knowledge of FDGC metadata standards
-Demonstrated experience of > 1 year working with ESRI Geoportal Server metadata catalogs
