Position Description:

geocgi is looking for a GIS Developer to develop custom tools and applications on the ArcGIS Platform in the Hampton Roads, VA area. The candidate will be responsible for the development of front-end applications and should be experienced programming with JavaScript, Python, HMTL and have familiarity with Esri API’s; they will be required to support GIS development functions, which include:

• Assist client with managing, administering, and developing geospatial based applications and solutions
• Assist in collecting user requirements, managing User Acceptance Testing, and performing deployments
• Manage stakeholder expectations regarding project status and provide a superior level of service
• Consult with project team to plan, design, and build effective applications, advocating for good usability practices and effective use of page templates

The GIS Developer should have experience controlling source code within a dynamic team environment using industry-approved collaboration tools, as well as experience with:

• Technical leadership
• UI and backend development
• Administration and maintenance
• Esri platform
• Website enhancements
• Communication of standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics

The following are requirements of the potential candidate:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, GIS or related fields
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in software development with an understanding of software engineering principles, and data structures with an Agile framework
• Experience with .NET, C#, JavaScript, AngularJS, CSS, HTM, and Python
• Experience with the ArcGIS API for JavaScript, ArcGIS API for Python, and ArcGIS REST API

The following are preferred qualifications of the potential candidate:

• Technical working knowledge of leading geospatial technologies
• Knowledge of web technologies, standards, and protocols
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies, coding standards, source control management, build processes, and testing
• Demonstrated experience leading and participating in unit testing, functional testing, and integration testing
• Experience working in a dynamic and collaborative environment using tools such as tools such as GitHub and JIRA
• Experienced at business analysis and requirements gathering
• Demonstrated attention to detail and client relationships
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative to solve complex problems
• Excellent writing and communication skills
