Position Summary
Why It's a Great Opportunity: Pierce County Information Technology, a division of the Finance Department, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Geographic Information System (GIS) Programmer/Engineer Lead professional. This is a high-level programming position that focuses on implementing complex technical solutions and providing analysis, system implementation/integration, and project management expertise for both internal County departments and regional GIS partners. Within Pierce County IT, this position will be based in the Spatial Services unit which includes GIS and Enterprise Asset Management.

As a lead, we are not only looking for someone with extensive experience and proven technical skills, but also one who supports a creative work environment and a consultative mindset. Advanced knowledge of the Esri platforms, especially JavaScript API, Python API, C# Pro SDK, ArcGIS Server REST API, ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap will ensure you are able to lead your team in the most dynamic of projects. Core Daily Responsibilities:
Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding changes in the IT and Geospatial industry, share ideas with Spatial Services and IT Department leadership, and propose changes based on these developments.

Provide lead-level GIS programming, analysis, system implementation/integration, and project management for both internal County departments and regional GIS partners.

Provide high-level GIS software development expertise with strong knowledge of standard GIS concepts.

Manage multiple complex GIS application development projects.

Manage and maintain enterprise GIS systems.

Work directly with customers to scope projects and engineer solutions considering all opportunities that IT offers.

Recruiting Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Geography or related field AND
Six or more years of Information Technology/GIS experience
Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and knowledge in GIS software development, Enterprise GIS architecture and system implementations, and Esri platforms.

Special Requirements/Qualifications:
Positions in specific program areas may require program-related experience, education, and/or training.

A valid Washington State Driver's License may be required when travel is required of the position.
