The Opportunity: Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator

Come join us as AWWD's GIS Coordinator. This position reports to the IT Manager as a member of the District's Management Team responsible for helping us to achieve our mission, vision and values through the development and implementation of the District's GIS programs. The District recognizes the critical role the GIS Coordinator plays in developing and maintaining a robust and accurate GIS mapping system and serving both internal and external customers in meeting their GIS needs.

AWWD is seeking a critical thinking professional who can design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance of the District’s Enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and related applications. The successful candidate will design, enhance and maintain the value and reliability of complex spatial data, system integrations, and applications. The incumbent will be responsible for accurately entering new data into the GIS from engineering as-builts and record drawings and assuring the accuracy of existing asset data. While primarily serving as the technical expert for Enterprise GIS, the successful candidate may apply their expertise to other systems as needed to ensure resiliency and service delivery across the enterprise.

This position requires professional knowledge, expertise, guidelines, policies/procedures, and creative problem-solving skills to develop recommendations to management regarding complex issues and policies. Experience using independent judgment and discretion and selecting appropriate methods to solve problems, fulfill assignments, complete projects and balance competing priorities are necessary to this position. The incumbent will also coordinate data sharing with other government agencies.

The District embraces the principles of continuous improvement, and the incumbent will be expected to analyze processes and make recommendations for necessary changes to the IT Manager and Management Team. The pay range for this position is $74,124 - $99,336 annually, with a starting pay range of $74,124 - $85,812, dependent upon experience and qualifications.
