Forest Resource Consultants, Inc., is a long-established, reputable southeastern consulting firm with a diverse client base, highly ethical work standard, and an experienced, professional staff. This position will support FRC's growing role of providing clients with access to their data via online portals. We are looking for a candidate with proven ArcGIS Online skills who can quickly build and maintain our online GIS presence. Knowledge of the forest industry and forestry terms is not required but is highly desirable.
BA/BS degree in Geography or a Natural Resources field with an emphasis in GIS or a closely related discipline with significant GIS coursework.
Two or more years of post-baccalaureate work experience in GIS.
Extensive experience with Esris ArcGIS Online setup, management, and support.
Experience with data conversion and migration between personal geodatabases and enterprise/online platforms; familiarity with strengths and weaknesses of the platforms.
Experience with ArcGIS 10.x or higher and experience with GIS database management and cartographic production.
Working knowledge of standard computer software packages, e.g., Word and Excel.
Working knowledge of MS Access, SQL Server, and other relational databases is highly desirable.
Must possess good verbal and written communication skills.
Must possess good interpersonal skills and be able to work well with others in team production situations.
Ability and willingness to travel occasionally.
Develop an understanding of the FRC business model, especially the importance of producing high quality products in a cost-effective manner.
Develop and maintain new and existing property level data and layers to FRC standards.
Develop and maintain online GIS datasets for various clients using ArcGIS Online, Enterprise, and associated applications like Collector, Field Maps, and Story Maps.
Develop an understanding of forest inventory systems and how FRC manages inventory data.
Develop an understanding of ArcGIS and associated tools, including an understanding of relational databases such as SQL Server and their use at FRC.
Generate various project related maps, reports, and documents for clients.
Maintain Quality Assurance/Quality Control for existing datasets.
Participate in reviews of current technology and innovations in the geo-spatial arena.
Assist with other special projects as requested.
Participate with our Technical Services team, which provides various technical services to FRC managers and clients.
Promote a positive image of FRC with clients, associates, contractors, and the general public.
