The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Program/Project Coordinator, Senior in the Mobility Advancement Program (MAP) office.

General Description

Administers large-scale programs and/or projects that have County-wide impact.

Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in spacial analysis, data analytics, computer science, engineering, geography, geographic information systems, urban planning, or closely related field.

(Two years of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires four (4) years of professional experience analyzing, designing, or managing GIS databases and processes including two (2) years of lead work experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses Required

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License.


Masterís Degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major coursework in spacial analysis, data analytics, computer science, engineering, geography, geographic information systems, urban planning, or closely related field.

Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification

Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) Desktop Certification

ESRI Developer Certification

ESRI Enterprise Certification

ESRI ArcGIS Online Administration Specialty Certification

Experience with travel demand modeling software (Cube, TransCAD, VISSUM, etc.) or conducting transportation or multimodal Analyses in GIS

Experience in GIS Database Management, including ArcGIS Enterprise Portal

Experience developing ArcGIS web applications

2+ years experience with shell programming and scripting (Python, bash) or modern programming languages (Java, SQL)

2+ years experience following, updating, developing, and implementing comprehensive written documentation/instructions/policies and procedures related to database management, creation, and quality assurance

2+ years experience with developing and successfully implementing 3D, AR, VR, business analytics dashboards (Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, etc) or other data visualization tools for complex projects/programs

2+ years experience making public presentations; developing story boards


The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Designs, develops, and manages project-specific relational database applications using desktop and enterprise database software.

Reviews, interprets, and analyzes GIS data from projects using GIS hardware or software applications.

Performs high-level data analysis, dashboard interface design. Updates dashboard datasets, project spatial data, and automated scripts.

Develops user acceptance testing (UAT) criteria, and business intelligence (BI) documentation.

Maintains and manages the Enterprise ArcSDE enterprise geodatabases including performance of configuration and tuning, database security and access, database compression and version management, archiving, replication, and synchronization.

Analyzes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data to identify spatial relationships or display results of analysis, using maps, graphs, charts, reports, or tabular data.

Manages large, dynamic GIS datasets to drive accurate, streamlined project implementation.

Reviews existing or incoming data for accuracy, usefulness, quality, or completeness of documentation to ensure quality of automated information.

Coordinates GIS functions and uses with other departments, other agencies/jurisdictions, engineers, developers, and the public.

Assists with analysis, research, design, and implementation of all mapping tools, templates, standards, and software.

Research technical issues and provides solutions; makes technological recommendations for improvements.

Conducts research and attends training for professional development.

Acts as a lead worker providing guidance, support, and leadership to other professional staff.

Performs related work as assigned.


Physical Demands

Typically performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations. May vary by work location.
