CBA is looking for A GIS Technician for a one-year contract position in Pittsburgh, PA for mostly remote work (will require occasional office visits). Candidates will need to perform, under direct supervision, GIS mapping of electrical distribution facilities drafting and computer graphics, as well as, associated clerical work.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Demonstrate and direct a solid commitment to all aspects of safety
• Perform GIS design work (i.e., post, promote, correct completed designs, verify attributes, maps and promote joint use jobs, and update streetlight and transformer records)
• Post completed work requests to GIS database, and maps and records systems by interpreting construction prints, work management information, and field inspections
• Assist with preparing and maintaining specialized electrical schematic drawings for Distribution and Transmission system circuits using AutoCAD. Reconcile connectivity and attributes with GIS, other records systems and actual installations
• Assist operations services personnel to resolve issues with GIS, AutoCAD, and GIS View systems
• Receive, process, and file all incoming records
• Assist in developing and manipulating GIS queries of data for investigations, special projects and statistical analysis
• Import sub-division maps into GIS Design
• Provide assistance during emergencies and storm-related activities and travel to various off-site locations as well as FirstEnergy office locations, training facilities and customer sites, when requested
• Attend all required regulatory training
• Gain knowledge of National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and National Electric Code (NEC)
• Create, revise, and maintain detailed electronic drawings, maps and sketches
• Create and maintain material and property equipment records
• Obtain information required to perform work from verbal communication, sketches, marked drawings, listings, field notes, vendors' catalogs, and technical reference manuals
• Perform mathematical calculations required to accomplish assigned work
• Promote and support the Company's Accident Prevention and Safety and Health programs
• Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance policy
• Self-motivated and able to multi-task with competing priorities
• Gain Software Application experience with including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, SAP, geographical information system (GIS), customer request work scheduling (CREWS), power outage reporting system (PowerOn), computer aided drafting (CAD/AutoCAD) and Energy Delivery Outage Application is preferred. Experience with database query tools (Hyperion/BRIO, Business Explorer Analyzer (BEX), Cognos); experience using Visual Basic is a plus


• Local to the Pittsburg area
• Associate degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with one to three years
of work-related experience
• High School Diploma (or GED) with four plus years of related work-related experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or related discipline with up to one year of work-related experience
• Experience with drafting applications such as AutoCAD and Esri
• Must be familiar with conventional drafting symbols and drafting methods
• Must be familiar with and have an aptitude for computer graphics and automated drawing methods and have the ability to distinguish colors
• Must be able to operate a company vehicle and possess and maintain a valid state driver's license
• Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law

Note: Related work experience is knowledge of construction and maintenance practices, procedures, work methods, materials, equipment and tools which would be used to determine the resources necessary to perform construction and maintenance work activities.
