The Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology seeks a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Manager to supervise and coordinate production of digital maps and associated databases. The position is a Bureau Professional Practice Faculty (non-teaching) at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
The successful candidate will be expected to supervise and lead production of high-quality digital maps that meet a variety of digital standards; supervise and lead maintenance, updates, and archiving of geochemical, geochronology, and specimen databases associated with the geologic mapping, geologic hazards, and economic geology programs; supervise GIS staff and students; and oversee organization and release of maps and associated data to the public via the MBMG website.
Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree plus 8 years’ experience or Ph.D. plus 5 years’ experience in GIS, Geography, Geology, or closely related field.
