Position Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Senior GIS Specialist within our Geospatial and Engineering Services Section at our Headquarters facility in Millersville, MD. This position will manage various tasks with numerous MES State partner Agencies and will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team that fosters innovative solutions using GIS-based technologies. The ideal candidate will be familiar with ESRIís Roads and Highways tool, as well as asset management related to Sea-Level Rise data, and climate change resiliency. This position develops and gives professional presentations to staff, state agencies, local governments, and other stakeholder groups. The selected candidate may also assist with field data collection (overnight travel is a possibility), populating databases, maintaining geodatabases, testing new applications, and performing analysis using ESRIís Desktop ArcGIS and ModelBuilder. The selected candidate may also manage junior-level staff (and their associated workloads), to support the mission of MES and their partners.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelorís degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS Technology, Environmental Science, Computer Science or a related field with minimum of 9 credit hours in courses specifically related to GIS operation/management plus three years of related experience. An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points.

The selected candidate should have knowledge of:

Esri ArcGIS 10.2x (or higher) and/or ArcGIS Pro
Esri ArcGIS Enterprise/ArcGIS Online
Esri Model Builder
Relational Database (SQL, PostgreSQL)

Preferred skills include:

Knowledge of Enterprise GIS architecture, including the software, hardware, network, security, cloud, and web services.
Current GIS industry trends (field data collection, GPS technology, etc.)
Experience with JIRA for Agile development.
Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications (Teams, Sharepoint)

Estimated Pay Range:

$43,810.47 - $76,669.23
