The fast growing city of Seguin, TX, located half an hour east of San Antonio and an hour south of Austin, is looking for our first dedicated GIS employee to build the city's GIS program from the ground up. Seguin, TX is conveniently located adjacent to the Texas Hill Country, not to far from the Texas coast, and is an ideal location for those looking for a small town feel with many large city amenities close by.
With the existing population already exceeding 30k, there are currently 40+ new subdivisions with 11k+ new dwellings and significant growth in the industrial and retail space underway. Over 50 manufacturers, Fortune 500 companies and corporate headquarters all reside in Seguin making the city a local economic powerhouse. Seguin continues to be one of the strongest manufacturing clusters in the region, and is recognized for having one of the highest manufacturing jobs per capita in the state of Texas,
The city itself is made up of 450 employees delivering a wide range of services to citizens. These services include police, fire, 911, main street, economic development, electric, water, wastewater, a secondary water system, and more.
The GIS Manager will work under the city's nationally recognized Seguin IT Department, most recently earning the 2021 GMIS International Government to Citizen (G2C) award and the 2020 StateScoop LocalSmart IT Innovation of the Year. The department has also earned multiple state excellence awards, a "Best of Texas" award, and individual employees have been recognized as a state rising star, outstanding manager, and the prestigious TAGITM President's award. The newly created GIS Manager will be stepping into an incredible technology foundation and will be setup for success immediately.
What we're looking for is that special someone that is technically proficient but also a great communicator. Someone that can sit down with professionals in various areas, discuss how GIS can benefit them, and possesses the technical ability to deliver on decisions made. This person will be a leader in our fantastic organization, and will be looked upon to drive GIS innovation for the city. The position will report directly to the Director of IT. The starting salary will be $72,737 with a 3% cost of living increase in January 2022 and the opportunity for merit increases annually.
