Title: GIS Analyst
Location: Saint Petersburg, FL
This position will provide professional and technical expertise to handle complex mapping and analytical functions in the areas of, but not limited to, Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning Systems, cadastral, thematic, aerial and orthographic mapping. Provides support role in data quality processes (data analysis, maintenance, development, audits) for transmission and distribution systems, substations and substation equipment to ensure that all data and applications are delivered consistently, that the data management systems data standards are used, Service Level Agreements are observed, and process improvements are realized to ensure that the Customer Delivery departments receive data and applications that can be fully utilized to maximize their value to the business. The incumbent must combine in-depth knowledge of the data maintained within the supported database systems with in-depth knowledge of the physical electric power system equipment and maintenance and construction activities which that data represents.
GIS related functions include the creation, evaluation and analysis of satellite imagery, topographical mapping, cartographic modeling, vector translations, elevation and contour line mapping. The incumbent will use these processes to analyze and provide summary report documentation of the GIS analysis provided. The incumbent will also participate in the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies applicable to geospatial analysis systems and resources of geospatial data.
Delivers advanced end-user geospatial analysis functional support to all levels of the organization.
This position will be responsible for the integrity and maintenance of the GIS database, and the accurate and timely population of the GIS system database with information relative to Distribution and Transmission Assets, landbase, real estate property transactions and boundary updates.
The incumbent must combine in-depth knowledge of the data maintained within the supported database systems with in-depth knowledge of the physical electric power system equipment and maintenance and construction activities which that data represents.
This position will operate with minimal direct supervision and may serve as the single point of contact for GIS information and analysis in support of an enterprise wide solution for GIS / landbase functions in support of electric/gas distribution, transmission, environmental, real estate, right of way, economic development, vegetation management and land acquisition initiatives.
The incumbent will be responsible for mapping and query creation as well as report preparation and presentation on a regular or ad hoc basis. The incumbent will coordinate geospatial analysis related activities and assist in the training of other personnel in the unit to ensure consistent and accurate analysis results.
Creating and maintaining ESRI based maps generated from GE Smallworld
Creates documentation on the placement of electrical facilities utilizing Company's GIS application SmallWorld, and other tools (schematics, circuit maps, drawings, plans).
Will need to interpret drawings and schematics, as they will interact with Customer Project Coordinators who are designing the jobs in the field, as well as inspectors.
MS: Office 2000, Outlook, CAD, ArcView (or other GIS package).
Technical degree preferred. Minimum 5 years GIS experience required
