Position Description:

We are seeking a qualified Inventory Forester to work with our Forestry Division based in Eugene, OR. The successful candidates should have proven knowledge of forest inventory methods as well as experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
ABOUT THE POSITION
• Lead the management of the annual inventory data collection program
• Train and review check cruisers under contract, seasonal team members, and other staff
• Ensure timely and accurate updates of inventory databases
• Maintain and manage forest inventory data, GIS files, and software; provide GIS training and support to district personnel
• Use GIS to provide maps, reports, and analysis
• Implement best practices for data management, structure, and workflow
• Assist with work on other district programs including, silviculture, harvest planning, and road layout
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, GIS, Natural Resources or related field
• Forest inventory experience gained over 2 or more years in both field and office settings is preferred
• Timber cruising experience and familiarity with Pacific Northwest species
• Knowledge of forest inventory methods and software
• Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems
• Demonstrated organizational skills with superior attention to detail in both field and office settings
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Capable of hiking in remote mountainous regions in all seasons
• Current valid driver’s license and the ability to safely negotiate mountainous roads
