As an experienced, creative web application developer specializing in GIS applications, with proven technical skills and a consultative mindset, you will focus on implementing complex technical solutions, providing GIS programming expertise, designing system integrations, and helping to set future directions in a changing GIS technology world.

Current projects include:
New web application development and upgrades that utilize ESRI’s JavaScript API 4.x, TypeScript, React framework and ESRI’s Experience Builder developer edition technology.
Maintenance and feature enhancements of existing web applications using Web App Builder, JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
Constant improvement in code deployment, coding style, documentation and code management processes.
This position will be eligible for remote work in accordance with Pierce County and IT remote work policies. Additional onsite work may be required in certain situations and candidates must live within a commuting distance to meet these requirements.

The IT Division has access to numerous training opportunities, which include peer, industry, vendor, and official Pierce County training as well as access to established procedures, standards, practices, and system documentation. Our training program is designed to help you develop as both a professional in your role as a GIS web developer and as a Pierce County employee. Your work will directly impact your community and offers a great foundation for future positions within the IT Division and Pierce County.

Core Daily Responsibilities:
-Perform intermediate-level professional technical services in GIS technology areas including web application development and system integration/implementation.
-Provide application management including design, development, implementation and maintenance, documentation and use of code repositories, creation and maintenance of procedural documentation, training for user department staff and user support as needed.
-Perform intermediate level GIS application development including enhancement and maintenance based on the following programming technologies:
-JavaScript API 3.x/4.x, WebAppBuilder developer edition (TypeScript and Experience Builder experience would be a plus)
-ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro based ArcPy library (ArcMap based ArcPy experience is valuable but will not be the focus of this position and we can provide training)
-ArcGIS Pro .Net SDK (ArcMap based ArcObjects experience will be considered if present. Experience of ArcGIS Pro SDK based development is desirable and we can provide training)
-Program, maintain, enhance, integrate and support GIS business systems/programs.
-Successfully troubleshoot system and application issues and identify creative solutions to answer needs.
Assist senior GIS staff on large scale or complex projects.

Recruiting Requirements:
-Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Geography or related field AND
-Four or more years of Information Technology/GIS experience
-Any combination of education and experience which would demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the classification

Preferred Requirements:
-Demonstrated experience and knowledge with the Esri platform
