Position Description:

This position leverages GIS technology and resources to support City work flows, functions, and decision making across all departments. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: planning, developing, maintaining, utilizing, and promoting the City’s Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) and providing GIS training and support for City staff.


SALARY: $63,074/yr. ($30.32/hr.); plus full benefit package

WORK HOURS: 40 hours per week; Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

DUTIES: Performs spatial analysis and creates cartographic products, graphics, data, and reports utilizing specialized computer software such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap and others in support of City functions, programs, and initiatives across all departments. Maintains, updates, and administers GIS infrastructure, data, and applications. Ensures overall integrity, accuracy and reliability of all data. Implements GIS commercial off the shelf (COTS) solutions and/or develops custom solutions to support end-user needs. Provides overall maintenance and support for GIS hardware and software including: GIS server administration, database administration, enterprise geodatabase backups, configuration of software and system integrations, installation and testing of upgrades, documentation and report writing as needed. Performs long range GIS implementation planning and prioritization; manages multiple GIS projects; coordinates City-wide GIS applications and initiatives; and develops departmental GIS applications. Maintains subject matter expertise of GIS industry developments and advancements in support of City expenditures on GIS resources and technology. Makes GIS recommendations that impact budgeting and long range planning. Provides GIS training and technical assistance to all City departments. Coordinates and supports GIS collaborative partnerships among local and regional organizations.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field with a minimum of six years of GIS professional experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position. Advanced knowledge of GIS principals, practices, and techniques along with current ESRI technology and applications is required. Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Cartegraph Operations Management Software (OMS), Next Generation 911 (NG911) standards and Python scripting language is desired. GIS Professional certification is beneficial. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
