Job Description

The GIS Programmer/Analyst will work as an integral team member of the ISU GIS Training and Research Center (TReC) on a new, 2-year project to revise and re-develop the NASA RECOVER wildfire decision support system (DSS). The DSS will be deployed in the Esri ArcGIS Online cloud and local Portal servers at Idaho State University. The GIS Programmer/Analyst will be responsible for web map application customization, Dashboard development, and the development of customized Python and/or JavaScript applications and scripts to provide enhanced capabilities of the DSS (e.g., PDF report generation and spatially-aware download capabilities). The GIS Programmer/Analyst will also work with USDA Forest Service colleagues at the Geospatial Technology and Applications Center (GTAC) to mirror the NASA RECOVER DSS capabilities. This is currently a 2-year (TERM) project, contingent upon availability of funding. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide Python and JavaScript capabilities to enhance web maps, web map applications, and ArcGIS Dashboard applications beyond what is enabled using existing templates (i.e., use the software developer kits (SDK))
• Provide process automation capabilities to support the NASA RECOVER DSS and develop excellent documentation and process protocols

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field
• Demonstrated knowledge of GIS
• Skill in using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
• Demonstrated Programming skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python (ArcPy)
• Experience with web development
• Demonstrated troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

• MS degree in GIS or closely related field
• Demonstrated experience in GIS data processing and analysis
• GISP Certification
• Experience using Git hub repositories
• Experience with Visual Studio Microsoft development environment
• Knowledge and experience with implementing current website security
• Strong technical writing skills

Additional Information

Salary will be between $60,000 and $64,000 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
