Job Summary
MAJOR FUNCTION: Position is in the GIS Division of the Planning & Development Services Department. This Division provides data collection, mapping, land use planning and GIS support for Departments under the St. Lucie Board of County Commissioners. This position provides primary support to the Public Works Department. This position reports to the GIS Manager.

Essential Job Functions
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

Knowledge:
Knowledge of standard statistical principals, methods, and research techniques.
Knowledge of computer automated mapping, geographic data collection methods and automated data management systems.
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft SQL Server databases, ESRI Product Suite (ArcMap, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Pro). Knowledge of GIS public works asset management principles and practices desired.

Abilities:
Ability to deal effectively with the public and present information in a clear and concise fashion.
Ability to work well under pressure with fixed deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members of the Department and other agencies.
Ability to communicate concisely, orally, and in technical writing.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Performs data collection, database development and mapping design work.
Conducts these functions in the development and support of the County's geographic information system (GIS).
Creates maps, reports, and GIS data sets on computer automated mapping and database management systems for research, decision support and presentation purposes.
Updates, maintains, and ensures the accuracy of digital data tables, graphics, and GIS data sets.
Provides technical assistance to County personnel and handles customer service requests.
Maintains confidential records and correspondence.
Performs related work as requested or assigned.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Use of hands and fingers with dexterity. Good vision and hearing. Periodic walking and standing. Ability to lift occasionally 30 pounds. Ability to operate a county vehicle. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITION REQUIREMENTS: Work both outside and inside the office. Work inside an office for extended periods and in the field with dust, heat, excessive noise, and physically dangerous areas during construction operations.

ENVIRONMENTAL PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to tolerate variable weather conditions.
