Position Description:
SUMMARY
Assists with maintenance and development of District-wide Geographic Information System (GIS), including asset inventories, land management and ecological databases. Assists in the creation and maintenance of the District’s GIS layers in Geodatabases, and conversion of data from multiple sources and types. Performs data acquisition, collection, and verification tasks in the field utilizing Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). Creates and maintains metadata for District’s GIS layers. Creates maps and data for District staff, Departments, and special projects. Performs lifting tasks up to 25 pounds. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations. Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and sitting.
EXPERIENCE
Recent graduate of, or current student in, a two- or four-year college program with an emphasis in Computer Science, Geography, Geographical Information Systems, Environmental Science or related program. Knowledge in the operation of mapping and database software packages, including ESRI’s ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Field Maps, ArcGIS Survey123 and related tools such as Geodatabases. Knowledge of GNSS data collection, GIS standards, terms, principles, and mapping. Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word. Must possess a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
