Position Description:

The Village of Bartlett located in Cook, DuPage and Kane counties is seeking applicants for our GIS Applications Specialist position.

The GIS Application Specialist will develop, maintain, and enhance GIS-based applications; design and build web-based GIS tools, dashboards, and mobile apps to support decision-making processes; and implement and manage integrations between GIS systems and external databases.

The specialist will assist in creating, maintaining, and updating geospatial datasets and databases for application development; perform complex spatial analyses to identify patterns, trends, and relationships that support departmental projects; and automate repetitive cartographic tasks using GIS scripting. Additionally, the specialist will integrate geospatial data from various sources into GIS applications while ensuring data quality, integrity, and consistency.

The role includes troubleshooting GIS applications, providing technical support to end-users, and creating user guides, training materials, and documentation.

Candidates must have a minimum of two years of GIS experience and must possess the following: Proficiency in GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and Experience Builder; experience with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, Arcade, and SQL for GIS application development; familiarity with web development tools and frameworks (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for building GIS web applications; excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working effectively with non-technical audiences; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail; and the ability to work independently and collaboratively, focusing on delivering high-quality work; experience working with ArcGIS Dashboards, StoryMaps, Survery123, and implementing custom GIS solutions.
