Position Description:

Are you ready to map out a career where technology meets geography? Great! The City of Burlington is seeking a detailed oriented individual for a GIS Technician!

The employee in this class is responsible to maintain, update and assign City addressing for inclusion in E911 and City Enterprise software systems; maintain and update GIS data sets and related information, including production of mapping products for internal and external use. Work involves GIS data creation, maintenance, updating and quality control/quality assurance; GIS data entry, attributing, and metadata creation; GIS map production and output; global positioning system (GPS) data collection and coordination with field staff.

Bachelor’s Degree in geographic information systems, or a bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, engineering, or a related field in combination with at least 1 year of work experience in a GIS related position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ArcGIS Proficiency: Advanced skills in ArcGIS Pro for mapping, data analysis, and spatial modeling. Experience with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise Portal for creating accessible web maps and applications.
