Position Description:
• The GIS Coordinator for Buchanan County, MO will support all day-to-day GIS operations and tasks for the county wide Geographic Information Systems currently in place. The GIS Coordinator is responsible for managing, developing, and maintaining the organization’s Geographic Information System (GIS). This role involves coordinating GIS projects, ensuring data accuracy and integrity, overseeing system administration, and providing technical expertise to support other departments and the public.
Position Requirements
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, and/or related field
Experience:
• Minimum 2-4 years’ experience using GIS software (Esri software platform) is preferred
Knowledge/Skills:
• Familiar with geospatial concepts, practices, and procedures including but not limited to coordinate system projections and topology.
• Familiar with GPS, CAD, and LiDAR technologies
• MUST be able to demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and COGO property deeds
• Esri ArcGIS Pro, Esri ArcGIS Server (SDE), Esri ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS web experience, Esri ArcGIS Collector, Esri Workflow Manager, Spatial Analyst Extension
• MUST be self-motivated and have the ability to manage time wisely
Job Duties:
• Manage, Coordinate, and Administer all GIS related services for county departments
• Interpret property deeds and COGO into GIS
• Maintain all Shapefiles, File Geodatabases, Access databases, and SQL databases
• Manage the county’s ArcGIS Online account by maintaining connected feature services and named users
• Compile an annual GIS department budget subject to county commission approval
• Assist the general public with any GIS related questions, requests, and issues
• Stay up to speed on new geospatial trends and technologies
