Position Description:

Summary:
Assist a DoD client with improving and maintaining environmental GIS data for military installations. Provide specialized technical and analytical geospatial assistance supporting and maintaining GIS functionality related to cultural, natural, and environmental resource management. The analyst will possess excellent communication skills and act as the liaison between GIS and Environmental Subject Matter Experts. Execute the responsibilities of a GIS Analyst supporting environmental management functions as a part of a DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) Program, which include:

• GIS technical proficiency and experience with Esri ArcGIS
• Experience working in an enterprise Esri ArcGIS environment to include versioned editing
• Data preparation, management, and maintenance
• Script writing for automation of routine GIS tasks and procedures
• Data Model support and compliance
• Requirements Gathering
• Communicate standards, methods, quality assurance/control processes, and metrics

Requirements and Experience:
The following are requirements of a potential candidate:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Cartography, Survey, or IT related field
• 4-6 years of experience in GIS with cartographic, analyst, editor, database or similar duties
• Experience with Esri software applications and spatial analysis.
• Understanding and Knowledge in geography, scientific methods and GIS principles.
• Experienced and knowledge in the implementation of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
• Knowledge of DoD and Federal GIS Standards and Policy
• Travel is required. The desired candidate will be required to plan their own travel accommodations may include on-base lodging.
• Able and willing to perform fieldwork.
• Effective Communication both orally and in writing
• United States citizen and have U. S. driver’s license
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

The following are desired capabilities and experience of a successful candidate:
• Experience with GPS equipment, data collection, and post-processing
• Experience with GIS data and CAD data integration
• Ability to work independently and proactively to take initiative and solve complex problems
• Experience in DoD Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) or other DoD installation functional areas
• Able to develop maps for visualization and analysis
• Python script writing experience
• Data management experience
• Excellent writing and communication skills
