Position Description:

NOAA’s Office for Coastal Management (OCM) is looking for a Geospatial Analyst to support the Science and Geospatial Services Division. This position will be employed by The Baldwin Group (TBG) under a contract with the Office for Coastal Management. The successful candidate will work closely with our existing geospatial team, assist in the development of geospatial data, and provide technical assistance when needed.

Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

● Perform quality assurance reviews of geospatial data
● Create derived products from lidar, including high-resolution digital elevation models
● Conduct spatial analyses using manual, semi-automated, and automated routines
● Provide remote sensing and GIS-related technical assistance as needed to constituents seeking support and guidance
● Support the development and implementation of geospatial visualization and decision-support tools within a multi-tiered enterprise environment


● M.S. plus three years’ experience or B.S. plus five years’ experience
● Thorough knowledge and extensive experience with ESRI ArcGIS
● Ability to write basic SQL queries and Python scripts
● Experience with lidar mapping
● Experience performing quality assurance analyses related to remote sensing data development, as well as experience in data management and documentation within enterprise systems
● Self-starter with the ability to work in a small team environment without direct day-to-day supervision
● Strong communication and organizational skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills

● Experience using ERDAS, Global Mapper, MARS, eCognition, or other related geospatial software
● Experience with land cover analysis
● Knowledge of regionally relevant projections, datums, and coordinate systems
● Experience creating and maintaining map services
● Demonstrated ability to build relationships with management, colleagues, and external partners
