The Geospatial Software Development Engineer will provide professional level support in areas of advanced geospatial and related software technologies. The individual will seek and respond to funding opportunities, project scoping, prototyping, plan development and geospatial feasibility studies. In addition, this position will assist the Voinovich School IT manager with the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of GIS systems, geospatial applications, and data integration solutions to administrative, scientific and technical problems. This work includes geospatial data acquisition, processing, mapping, analysis, web programming, and providing innovative Spatial Intelligence solutions to clients of the Voinovich School.

This position will be responsible for the development, maintenance and expansion of GIS datasets, GIS data and Geodatabase development and management, development and recommendations of mapping software and products, and design and development of high-quality analytical mapping products. Perform location-based analytics with innovative spatial intelligence, business intelligence, statistical and predictive analytics tools to create unique analytical solutions and profound insights that support both strategic and operational decision making. Collaborate with IT engineers and project teams to understand use cases and produce designs and implementations that meet GIS application configuration, testing and acceptance to fulfill grant and contract requirements. Develop custom GIS applications in a variety of environments using AJAX, Dojo, HTML/HTML5, Javascript, Python, VBScript and Model Builder to build map-based visualization applications to help convey complex ideas in a rich and descriptive form.

Minimum Qualifications
„X Bachelor¡¦s degree in Geography, Planning, Computer Science or related discipline AND 3-5 years of work experience is required. Candidates may substitute specific primary job skill experience in lieu of degree for consideration.
„X A demonstrated ability to work in a very dynamic and technically demanding work environment.
„X Knowledge and proficiency with software, databases, and other tools relevant to the field.

Preferred Qualifications:
„X Master¡¦s degree in Geography, Planning, Computer Science or related discipline and more than 5 years of work experience.
„X GIS Professional (GISP) certificate, membership(s) in URISA and/or other professional organizations are preferred but not required.
„X Previous experience in and knowledge of energy and environmental research programs and
energy and environmental policy is preferred but not required.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a grant funded position and is available immediately after the search.
