The Office of Geospatial Information is part of the Information Technology Services Division. This position is part of a team of GIS professionals that provide expertise and support to a variety of state agencies. This position will focus more specifically on the GIS activities for the Department of Public Safety and the State Emergency Management Agency.
This is a highly responsible administrative position and will work in planning, organizing, and directing emergency management GIS activities. Primary responsibilities include coordinating and managing all GIS support functions necessary to mitigate against, prepare for, and respond to emergencies or disasters.
This position is responsible for evaluating current geographic information technology solutions and integrating geospatial technology into existing workflows. Work includes coordinating multi-agency GIS activities, and serves as an expert on geospatial matters for the Department of Public Safety. This position will develop geospatial standards for emergency, including mapping, symbology, methodology, and field data collection.
In addition, this position provides GIS support for State Emergency Operations Centers during emergencies. The successful candidate should be able to work in a high-stress environment and have the ability to work under pressure, to multitask, think intuitively, and implore time management skills. Overtime may be required during exercises/drills or during time of emergencies.
