Come join our GIS team! We are seeking an energetic and innovative Mobile and Web GIS Analyst/Programmer to assist in building the next generation of data bridges between our field operations, central planning office, and external stakeholder groups. Specifically, this position would help plan and implement internal GIS mobile data collection systems as well as web-based GIS visualization and reporting tools.
•Design, development, and support of mobile GIS applications for our forest management and leasing programs.
•Design, development, and suport of internal and external web-based GIS data viewers and data reporting systems.
•Design, development, and support of geoprocessing scripts to automate GIS vector, raster, and tabular processes.
•Design and development of coordinated trainings in the use of mobile and web GIS technology.
•Active communication with field operations staff including periodic site visits to region offices located throughout the state.
This position provides services to decision makers involved in the management of over 3 million acres of State Trust lands and across many programs (e.g. silviculture, timber sale, sustainable harvest, habitat conservation, and forest land planning).
•A bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, Geography, GIS, Computer Science, or related field.
•Two years of demonstrated proficiency in the use of ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software.
•Demonstrated proficiency with GIS mobile data collection application development.
•Demonstrated proficiency with GIS web application development.
•Demonstrated proficiency with an RDBMS such as Oracle, SQL, Postgres, etc.
•Knowledge of forest management principles (inventory, silviculture, timber sales, and forest planning).
•Applied knowledge of ArcSDE and Oracle.
•Applied knowledge of ESRI mobile data collection platforms: Collector, Survey123, ArcPad, etc.
•Applied knowledge of the Python programming language as applied to the ESRI arcpy library.
•Skills in cartographic design and graphic layout.
•A positive and can-do attitude!
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
•Ability to work in uneven terrain in all weather conditions.
•The incumbent in this position is required to travel up to 20% time.
•Must have a valid driver's license and have two years of driving experience. This position requires driving as an essential function. Employees who drive for state business, whether in a state or privately-owned vehicle, are required to possess a valid license as defined in policy PO02-006 and abide by all other driver responsibility requirements.
•Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of hire.
